At Gem Valley Neuropsychology, assessment is a collaborative process. We begin by listening to your concerns, exploring your history, and understanding what you hope to learn. Your questions help guide the evaluation.
Testing is individually tailored to fit your unique needs, and considers how cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and developmental factors may interact. We look beyond a single symptom to understand your strengths, challenges, and the broader context of your experiences.
Dr. Satre is trained in the collaborative therapeutic model of assessment. Although assessment is not psychotherapy, the process can offer meaningful insight and a deeper understanding of yourself or your child.
Assessment begins with an intake appointment to discuss your history, current concerns, and goals. Testing may include structured activities, problem-solving tasks, questionnaires, and measures of attention, memory, learning, and emotional functioning. Relevant records and information from other providers or caregivers may also help build a fuller picture.
Testing is typically divided across several appointments to allow for breaks, manage fatigue, and observe your functioning over time. You do not need to study or prepare answers—the goal is to understand how you naturally approach different tasks.
After testing, we meet to review the findings, answer your questions, and discuss individualized recommendations. You also receive a written report to support your next steps.
During feedback, we explain the findings, discuss their implications, and make space for your questions. Your written report brings together the results and individualized recommendations to help guide treatment, educational support, accommodations, or other appropriate next steps.
